Culver Tower Loop

This is a moderate hike that hits different parts of Stokes - the ridge, valley, and streams. You can park at Kittle Field and take the Brown Stony Brook trail up stream to Stony Brook day use area and pick up the Green Tower trail. The Tower trail heads towards the ridge after leaving the Brown. It's not bad until after you cross Sunrise Mtn Rd where it heads steeply uphill where you will need some use of hands. It ends at the top with the AT, which you can follow a short distance south to the Fire Tower and the view. Turn back and take the AT north past the Brown Stony Brook trail to the Yellow TInsley trail. The Yellow heads down hill gradually, passing the geologic trail after crossing Sunrise Mtn Rd. Continue on the Yellow past the Red/Blue trails to the road at Lake Ocquitunk. Either take the road to the left or continue a short distance downhill to the blue Blue Mtn loop trail where you will take the left. If on the road, pick up the Blue trail before the bridges and head to the left through a swampy area. Follow the Blue to the Orange Silver Mine trail. (Optionally continue on Blue to the Brown). Take the Orange uphill. At the top you will see the dam for the dry lake, and the trail starts to follow an old road. Eventually you will see a sign for a short trail to the left and downhill to the Silver mine next to a small creek. Go back to the main trail and follow it to the Brown Stony Brook trail. Go up stream (to the left) after viewing the falls, and back to the start.
