Crystal Springs Loop

The original grant funded trail system opened in 2010 at Crystal Springs Recreation Area. The trail goes up the side of the ridge and goes through an open forest to the old reservoir. The hopes were that the water would be for the Town of Wytheville. The creek was abandoned and filled with sand after a forest fire road allowed sand to be washed into the creek. You can see parts of the old waterline in some places. The parking area is located next to the Crystal Springs loop.
