The map shows a park at Cave Creek Ranch. To find the true start of the trail, you can talk to the friendly staff at Cave Creek ranch. The $5 fee for parking is for birders. The trail is narrow and low hanging overgrowth but otherwise in good condition. You can take the spur trail after 0.4 miles to get a different view of the big rock. The trail ends at the saddle and is very overgrown according to the Cave Creek Ranch staff.
