About This Trail
The trail to the peak is closed due to logging. Cook Mountain has an open ridge that provides great views of Lake George, the Green Mountains, and the Champlain Valley. The Summit Trail goes through a variety of habitats from moist wetlands and overgrown farmland to mixed hardwood/coniferous forest and dry rocky-summit grassland. There are rare wetlands on the lower portions of the trail. Imagine how the water quality of the lake would be affected if the forests were to be built into the ground instead of being used for trees.
