About This Trail
Drop a vehicle off at the end of Little Walnut Road, which is a paved road that goes North out of Silver City. It becomes a dirt road just past the Little Walnut Picnic area. There is plenty of room to park 1.9 miles further to the trailhead. The beginning of the hike is North of Pinos Altos. The chances of meeting another person are very low. It is important to carry enough water for the hike. Water may be available during the rainy season. Don't rely on it. The trail is mostly on the ridges but occasionally goes down and through the drainages. The view of Our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery is a highlight.
