Cascade Rock Trail

Not a long trail but it’s not for beginners. Walk up Bypass Trail to the trailhead, which has a laminated sign reading "Cascade Rock." The trail does show up on the AllTrails map, but stops at the first “summit,” which is really just a crappy little landing with no views at all. So be brave! Follow the narrow trail down over the back of the hill. You only have a third of a mile to get to the actual Cascade Rock, but you’re going to work for it. Reliable and grippy shoes are a must. Much of this section is nearly vertical. You will be hauling yourself along trees to help yourself going both up and down. But when you get to the Rock you’ll know. The view is great. You’ll notice that there’s a terrifying washout at the summit and will be tempted to skirt its edge to hop up just ten feet higher on the rock above. There is NO VIEW there. Trees surround that rock. It is NOT worth it if you’re afraid of heights or have bad shoes. It’s not worth it even if you’re neither of those. You could keep going from here, but you would be trailblazing. Of note: when you get to the Cascade Rock turn off off Bypass Trail, you are a mile from the parking lot. I didn’t start my recording til I found the turnoff and got curious, so this trail is actually an additional mile in length.
