Bear Den Mountain via Appalachian Trail

Go to the east side of Drive and then take a right at the first intersection with the AT. The mountain is called Ascend Calf mountain. It takes 5 miles to reach Calf Mtn cabins spur. The Spur trail is about half a mile each way. Return to AT after a clearing with views of 3 miles. Continue on AT south and you will reach the Skyline Drive. Bear Den Mtn can be reached if you cross the road at Beagle Gap. The summit contains communication towers and tractor seats that were placed there by the previous owners. You can find a gravel road intersecting with the AT when you pass the towers.
