Barden Reservoir Loop

Parking is just a dirt pull off on the side of central pike just after crossing the reservoir if you're coming from the east. There will be a historic cemetery on the south side of the road. Walk west and turn down Kate Randall rd which shortly becomes a dirt rd. This road has a few residential properties. Follow this road until its intersection with Hemlock rd. Turn right (west) here. The residential properties disappear here as you follow this dirt road into a denser forest area. About 2 miles in, you will come to a bridge which will give great views of the reservoir to the north and marshland to the south. Continue along the dirt road which eventually turns back into pavement when approaching the spillway. The trail tends to be fairly desolate until you reach the spillway which is usually a pretty popular area for people to stop. After exploring the falls. Turn left (north) on to Ponagansett Road and you will again start to fade away form the crowd onto a peaceful dirt road that parallels the shore of the reservoir. You will soon pass a farm with some friendly sheep who will follow you along the length of their enclosure. Follow this road back to the intersection with central pike, and turn left back towards your vehicle.
