About
Imported descriptionLoco Lagoon, formerly known as Conoco Lake, is a three-acre freshwater pond providing habitat for wildlife and respite for humans in the middle of a vast forest of pumpjacks. The site was created in 1990 through a cooperative agreement between BLM and Conoco, Inc, with Conoco originally providing the fresh water and NM Department of Game and Fish stocking the lake with fish five times a year. The pond provides habitat for a variety of wildlife including bass, catfish, mule deer, ducks and other birds, while providing bird watching and picnicking for visitors.
