About
The Sierra Vista Recreational Area is made up of mountain ranges separated by rolling hill county and some of the Southwest's most extensive grassland. The area includes the Whetstone mountains. The canyons and ridges of these areas were once the focus of extensive mining activity. The Miller Peak Wilderness and the Huachuca Mountains are accessible through an extensive network of trails. Birdwatchers have found a gentler bonanza in Ramsey Canyon, where miners once blasted and tunneled for gold and silver. The area's broad grassland and scenic drives give trout and other species a chance to be caught.
