About
The Lookout Tower was built to protect the forest from wildfire. It is a tribute to the builders of the last lookout tower on the Hoosier National Forest. The Civilian Corps built the tower in 1936. It was used for fire detection until the 70's. It is made of steel and has a 7 foot square cab. There was a guard station, a cabin, and a garage on the site. The tower has been removed. There is a flyer on the tower.
