About This Trail

The Wilson Arch is a short trail that involves a scramble up a steep slope. The span is 92 feet and the height is 46 feet. Wilson Arch was named after a pioneer who had a cabin nearby. This formation is called Entrada Sandstone. The layers were saturated with water over time. The fissures were formed by ice that melted under the desert heat. A bunch of fins were still standing. It was the wind and water that attacked the fins, and some of the cement gave way. The damaged fins collapsed to the right of Wilson Arch. Other people with the right degree of hardness were unaffected by Wilson Arch.
