White Rock Falls Loop

Starting at BRP MP 18.5 Parking. Proceed on the White Rock Gap Trail for 0.4 miles. Turn left at the marker to hike 1.7 miles along the Slacks Trail. The Slacks Trail is mostly level, meandering through a hardwood forest. The trail is popular with mountain bikers, so keep aware. There are a few views through the trees, but no notable stops. Head to the Slacks Overlook Parking and cross the road. Head a bit left to find the entrance to the White Rock Falls Trail. Hike downward through numerous mountain laurel and rhododendron, crossing several wood bridges over the stream. As you gain elevation, look for several great views from the rocks on your left. The trail will start to descend sharply as you near the falls. After the first major switchback, look for the spur trail to the upper falls, just past the large rock overhang. The 40 ft falls base has plenty of rocks and pools for resting and wading, not deep enough for a full swim. Retrace the spur back to the main trail - the stream bed drops off and is too dangerous to maneuver. The trail has its most significant elevation drop for the next half mile until it crosses the stream. The remainder of the trail is mostly gentle ups and downs, passing through what was once a beautiful hemlock grove. Look for some sweet views of The Priest as you continue on the White Rocks Falls Trail back to the parking area.
