About This Trail

Imported description

The pine forest in the area is mostly planted with small cypress domes. This 378-acre recreation area is part of a 21,898-acre tract. The Twelve Mile Swamp Wildlife Management Area is open to the public for hunting. This tract is made up of swamps. These swamps form the main source of water for six major systems. Three of the tributaries discharge into the river. The Matanzas River and the Tolomato River are discharge areas of two other waterways. The preservation of this site helps protect the water quality and quantity of the creek systems.
