About This Trail
There are two parts of SouthWirth, one on the east side and one on the west side. Both have unique challenges. The side with the sanctuary has about 4 miles of trails. The course follows the cross country ski trails a bit. The terrain is full of steep climbs and descends through a forest glen that feels like Northern California. The next time, it will be the Bog. That is. The main loop is marked with ski posts so you can follow it for 2.5 miles. There are several tough climbs and a beautiful swamp. The best places to access the South Wirth trails are from the parking lot off of Glenwood at the South beach or from the south by Brownie and Cedar Lakes.
