About This Trail
The park staff recommends that you ascend the Halfway House Trail and then descend Sunset Ridge. Halfway House is a steep trail that is close to the Long Trail ridge-line. There is no shelter in bad weather on the Long Trail, it is all above the treeline. Sunset Ridge is a gradual hike down, so it is less difficult to get to the top of the hill. The Long Trail is White, while Halfway and Sunset Ridge have Blue Blazes. It's best to avoid Yellow blazed trails because they are more difficult to navigate.
