About This Trail
Hike in the largest tract of land along Lake Champlain. The North loop takes you up to the peak of Split Rock Mountain, following the remains of a logging road. The Ore Bed Lookout is a short quarter mile from the peak and offers a panoramic view of the Adirondacks. You will skirt the peak and then descend towards Essex Lookout. The Essex Lookout offers limited views up the lake. One can return to the peak from the Essex lookout or take a more leisurely route on the Robins Run Trail. The southern loop has the potential to have more lake views.
