About This Trail

The peak of the Taconic Mountains in western Massachusetts is called Shaker Mountain. The mountain is named after the nearby Hancock Shaker Village, a former religious colony and a historic site. The summit is a wooded area that is accessed by a loop trail. The mountain is wooded with hardwood trees. There are great ruins and stone walls to see. The location is very peaceful and the trails are clearly marked. The hike is moderate to strenuous and requires hiking boots and a walking stick.
