About This Trail

The trail system is made up of interlocking loops. There is a short trail around the canyon ponds and picnic area which leads to two loops of a nature trail. The total is approximately 3 miles. The canyon ponds trail is shorter than the nature trail. Some people might not like elevation changes, but others should enjoy them. The trail loops are marked. The adirondack shelters along the trail are attractive to people looking for a secluded spot. The trail is labeled as such. It is possible to follow nature trail #1 back to the start of the trail. The bridge is close to the beginning of the trail. A number of other bridges cross a small stream as the trail meanders. The sound of the stream falls over the slate layers. There are lots of animals. It's great for fall colors.
