About This Trail

The Schoefield Canyon Loop Trail consists of the trails 5007A, 5007B and 5007C. You start at the 5007A Trailhead (32.83062, -105.780710) near the Upper Rio Penasco Road, walk on this trail until you reach its other Trailhead (32.84977, -105.77255) in about 3 miles. You continue walking on the trail to your right for about half of a mile until you arrive to the trailhead of the Shortcut Trail (5007B), and you walk for another half a mile, then you arrive to the intersection with the 5007C trail, continue on this trail in the same direction for about 1.3 mile and you will reach the intersection with 5007A, here turn to your left and in less than a mile you will arrive to the point you started. This trail is in good condition and is also used by bikers, easy to walk, steep but not too much. Most of the time you walk in the middle of the beautiful aspen and pine trees forest, fresh air under a delicious shade. You will enjoy a lot the landscape from the mountain as you gain the elevation of 1100 ft. and if you are lucky, you will see elks in the distance.
