About This Trail
A nice path, but some lovely falls. The trail is very short and you can see 3 waterfalls. It is a very narrow path that goes along the edge of the brook. The ravine is deep so a slip off the trail would be very serious. The first falls to be seen are Proteus Falls, Erebus Falls and Evans Falls. Proteus is an early sea-god, one of several beings whom Homer calls the "The Old Man in the Sea", Erebus is also greek, and is used to refer to a region of the Underworld where the dead had to pass immediately after dying. The falls are different from each other. Proteus is a 25 foot drop, Erebus is a 12 foot drop and Evans is a small 12 foot drop.
