About This Trail
The Prairie Spirit Trail State Park has a biking and hiking trail that spans over 50 miles. The Prairie Spirit Trail began in 1996 fromRichmond to Welda, and ended in 2008 from Welda to Iola. The extension of the trail was completed in Iola. The route goes from Iola in the south to the north, through the communities of Iola, Carlyle, Colony, Welda, and Garnett. The Prairie Spirit Trail is free to use in the city limits of Iola, Garnett, andOttawa, but a permit is required to use it outside.
