About This Trail

Imported description

The preserve protects one of the most beautiful gorges in the state. It is said that the Little Miami State and National Scenic River are just east of John Bryan State Park. It is an outstanding example of canyon cutting. The river was formed by a series of holes in the Silurian dolomite bedrock, and at one point it flowed through a deep narrow channel. The cliff overhangs have broken off in other sections of the gorge. The shaded slopes provide a cool, moist environment for the northern species. This is one of the best places to view spring wildflowers in the state.
