About This Trail

Imported description

This loop is composed of sections of two popular trails in Perrot State Park: Brady's Bluff Trail and Perrot Ridge Trail. The loop can be done in either direction but counter-clockwise provides a better "reveal" of the vistas for both trails. There are two main summits to this trail - both of which provide a stunning view of the surrounding Mississippi River Valley - that have moderate climbs leading up to them. The downhill that occurs immediately after the Perrot Ridge summit is very steep and is the most technical portion of the trail - take caution when making this decent. The summit for Brady's Bluff is iconic for the Driftless Area and should not be missed. There is a small shelter built in the early 1900s by the CCC where you can rest and enjoy the views. Note: The SE part of Perrot Ridge Trail was rerouted slightly east in 2018 due to flash flooding that washed out portions of the old trail in 2017. The new route now runs along a ridge, whereas the old trail ran through a fern-covered ravine. The new route is also a bit easier due to a gentler grade.
