Pectin Reef Loop, Aliso & Wood RW

A portion of the Aliso & Wood Canyons Wilderness Park has a fossil reef from the era of dolphins and whales. It's not worth the trip because of the scenery, where alien bamboo fight the native mulefat and bay laurels. There is a dirt sidewalk on the trail. You can see the skeletons of a dolphin and a ground sloth at the Aliso and Wood Canyons Museum, while you are in the area. If you visit you should visit when you can find a few finds. It's okay to leave what you find at the site for others to enjoy.
