Pahranagat Lake (upper) spillway walk

Short, scenic walk along spillway of lake is a treat for children (of all ages) Although this spillway walk is not enough to warrant the drive from Las Vegas all by itself; it is a wonderful addition to a full day of adventuring and exploring southern Nevada, beyond the casinos and Las Vegas valley. If you're driving to Caliente, Area 51, Great Basin Natl Park, Ely, Wells, or further; this is a nice little stop to stretch, walk about a bit, and enjoy this lovely little lake. There is such a variety of birds and plant life (along with free informational brochures), that it's a must-see if you have children along, or anyone new to the desert. This is a wildlife refuge so please respect the quiet and clean environment; the traffic noise from hwy. 93 is very light and easily blocked out if you're used to city sounds. If you enjoy exploring by 4 wheel drive; you can make a full, wonderful day by beginning at Corn Creek NW of Vegas, taking the gravel Mormon Wells road over the sheep range to turn L (N) on 93 and end your day at Pahranagat Lake.
