North Fork Shanahan Trail

There is an easy way to get to either the North or South feet of the Shanahan Trail. Both trails cross the Mesa Trail. The Mesa Trail is accessed through the Bear Canyon Trail. You can come at least to the north if you use the loop trail which starts west at South Forkaughn and goes south on Mesa. If you are going to get to the flatiron, cross Mesa and continue your way. Follow the signs for Fern Canyon north. It's south on Mesa to the beginning, and East to Mesa.
