Nordhouse Dunes Extended Backpacking Loop

This is a longer backpacking route into the park. If you're looking for a shorter trail, please use AllTrails. There isn't a official trail between the two towns. There are some makeshift trails that you can navigate through the dunes on your own. It is easy to get lost with Hamlin on one side and Lake Michigan on the other. It is easy to hike along the shore. It is possible to camp anywhere in the Manistee National Forest, with some limitations on distance from water sources that no one seems to follow. You have to make a reservation if you want to camp at the park. There is only one campground for backpackers.
