Mount Cabot Trail

Please note: Offline map is recommended. Users have reported that the trails are not marked well. You can find parking at the Fish Hatchery, but make sure you call the Hatchery to confirm before visiting, as the road to the fish hatchery can be closed to traffic due to logging activity. This wooded summit has some nice views on the way up to make up for it. The summit is reached via the Bunnell Notch Trail which is more like an old wagon road through the woods and then joins the Kilkenny Ridge Trail to the summit. On the way you will pass Bunnell Rock with great views to the south. The old Mt. Cabot Trail to the southwest is no longer open to the public so this is the easiest route to the top at just under 8 miles. If you are into camping near summits the Cabot Cabin on the south end of the summit ridge offers a roof over your head but no heat source. Make sure to stop at the fish hatchery on the way out to check out some big fish in the ponds.
