About This Trail
The Lake Forest Open Lands collaborated with the Friends of the Chicago River. The Fish and Wildlife Service wants to restore 2000 feet of riverbank. The wetlands, savanna and priaires are home to a number of colorful bird species. The wetlands have been expanded and made deeper, and limestone perching rocks have been installed. swamp white oaks, sedges and over fifteen different kinds of flowering plants have been planted.
