Indian Cliffs

1. Head north on the Yellow blazed Timberbrook trail from the parking lot (not the woods road). 2. Follow the trail to an overlook of Timberbrook pond, where the Yellow meets the White blazed Four Birds trail. 3. Take the Four Birds trail to the right (east) heading gradually uphill. On the downhill side you will cross several trail (Green, Pink), but continue on the White until you find the Blue 4. Take the Blue downhill to Misty Pond. Head around Misty Pond ignoring the other trails. You will eventually cross Charlotteburg Road - an old woods road. Cross it. 5. There will be a rock wall in front of you. Follow the Blue trail as it heads up hill. At the top in Indian Cliffs with a beautiful view of the north end of Splitrock Reservoir and Misty Pond to the right. This is a great spot to stop for lunch. (3.5 miles so far). 6. After lunch head downhill until the trail joins an old woods road coming in from the left. In about 50 yards, there is a junction with the Orange blazed trail. Turn right onto the Orange, leaving the Blue trail and descend downhill to the Charlotteburg Road. 7. Continue on the Orange along the reservoir shore. You will pass mine tailings and an old mine pits. 8. The Orange heads around Splitrock following the shoreline for a while before heading away from it, but continuing parallel to it. Eventually it ends at a junction with the White blazed Splitrock trai. 9. Head LEFT and south on the White trail looking for the start of the Yellow blazed Winnebago trail. 10. Take the Yellow trail alongside Durham Pond. The Winnebago Boy Scout camp can be seen on the other side of the lake. Stay on the trail! 11. Continue on the Yellow, which at the north end of the pond turns into a woods road. Pass the Green trail and continue on Yellow back to the parking lot.
