About This Trail

Imported description
This trail loop is very steep and difficult to navigate. This is the highest mountain in Maine and a popular hiking destination in northern New England. It's also the final place for hikers finishing the trail from start to finish. The trail loop follows Hunt Trail to Knife Edge Trail, which leads to Mount Katahdin, South Peak, and Pamola Peak. Hikers will continue along Keep Ridge to the Roaring brook campground. The return trip follows the Chimney Pond Trail to Basin Ponds, Great Basin and South Basin. The Katahdin Stream Campground is where the trailhead is located.
