The most direct route up Hogencamp Mountain is from Rte 106. It is moderate with many up and down trail segments. The most striking feature of Hogencamp Mtn is the one that stands out. The long, multiple rock plateaus are what it is. A hiker's foot will be on solid rock just as much as the soil for long trail stretches. The highlights include Ship Rock, Times Square 4-Way Junction, Island Pond, and pine and fern groves. The parking lot may fill quickly on weekends.
