Goodwin Gold Mine Loop

The hike explores the gold mine which was one of the many in the area. There are other things to see here. The trail starts on the flat Mill pond trail and leads to a lake at the site of the old mill. The second leg takes you through a pigeon run trail along a road into a forest with a stream crossing. The third leg brings you to the gold mine trail, going back up along the road for a long way until you reach the forest. The most abundant birds in the area are present in this part of the hike. The last leg takes you back through the pine and other forest types. The site of the sawmill has a history sign and a water well.
