About This Trail

Imported description
You can take a walking tour of the remnants of an adobe fort. Fort Union was created to safeguard commercial and military businesses along Santa Fe Trail. The fort was positioned near the Mountain and Cimarron branches to better serve their purpose. The fort's remnants lie in a valley of short grass prairie, next to the Santa Fe Trail. Fort Union was an agent of political and cultural change for forty years.
