About This Trail

The North Carolina Mountains-to-Sea Trail project is intended to create a walking route from the Smokies to the Outer Banks. The Falls Lake Trail is a 60 mile footpath from the nature preserve to Falls Lake Dam. The trail goes along the southern shore of Falls Lake in Durham and Wake Counties. The Friends of the Mountains maintain the Sea Trail. There are two NC State Park campground facilities at Shinleaf and Rolling View Recreation Areas. The Neuse River Trail Greenway leads eastward to the Eno River State Park.
