Emeralda Island Drive Trail

The natural communities and agricultural lands support a large and diverse wildlife population. There is a large number of eastern sandhill crane in the winter. There are thousands of ring-necked ducks and lesser numbers of wood ducks, Florida ducks, and hooded mergansers in the area. Bald eagle, wood stork, limpkin and snowy egret are listed. The wetlands and adjacent water bodies support a high concentration of alligators.
