Dana Point Nature Preserve Trail

The City of Dana Point Nature Interpretive Center is a destination where the public can discover the rich history of the Dana Point Headlands and learn the natural history of this iconic area. Interpretive panels inside the facility tell the story of how the Dana Point headlands and shoreline have borne witness to change in both ancient and recent times. The panels explain the geological formation, and help the visitor understand the valuable plants and animals found in the area, in addition show how recent restoration and outreach aim to conserve these resources for future generations. The history of the Headlands and the City of Dana Point is brought to life with original paintings and historic photographs provided by the Dana Point Historical Society. Historic artifacts are also displayed in the Center to aid the public in understanding the evolving story of the Headlands and to help identify the flora and fauna that make the area unique. Aerial and topographic representations of the new parks and headlands amenities help orient the public and guide exploration of the area on the adjacent nature trails.
