About This Trail

The Phoenix landscape is dominated by Camelback Mountain. The two routes to the summit offer different challenges and are featured in the guide. The popular route is called Echo Canyon, which ascends 1,400 foot up the western side of the mountain. The journey quickly becomes a tiring one, but it has some good hiking experiences and a varied terrain. The trail heads up a well maintained trail on the east side, but becomes a challenging and technical ascent upon reaching the ridgeline. We wouldn't recommend this route for young children or people with a strong aversion to heights because of the rocky terrain. The elevation gain is Approx. It was 1,300ft from 1,450 to 2,680ft.
