About This Trail

You will traverse 3 peaks all above 3500ft. The views are the best around, you have to climb over ledges and the elevation gain is incredible. The air is thinner when you get above 3000ft, and you get into the Balsam/Spruce forest. The trail begins at the valley. The first 4 miles are 200ft. You can see the Ashokan Reservoir and High Point once you get on top of Wittenburg. It's short compared to what you just did. You can see the views of the climb from Cornell 3870ft. The col between Cornell and Slide is long but great because of the forest. The Climb up slide is not easy to climb. You have to climb the ledges. You get limited views on the slide. The better views are off the slide summit. The final descent to your end point is on an old fire road.
