About

The Palatka-to-St. Augustine State Trail is a scenic paved rail trail located in northeastern Florida, stretching approximately 19 miles through Putnam and St. Johns counties. This trail follows a former rail corridor, primarily alongside State Road 207, and features a 12-foot-wide asphalt path. It is distinctive as one of eleven state trails managed by the Florida Park Service and serves as a segment of the larger St. Johns River-to-Sea Loop, a regional trail network designed to connect various communities and natural areas. Visitors to the trail engage in a variety of outdoor activities, including walking, jogging, cycling, and rollerblading, making it a popular destination for both locals and tourists. The trail's accessibility provides ample parking options, but it's advisable to check local resources for specific locations. Weather can vary, so it's important to dress appropriately and stay hydrated, as water sources may not be readily available along the route. Before planning a visit, be sure to confirm hours, fees, and any potential closures on the official state site.
