About

Florida Caverns State Park, located in Jackson County, encompasses 1,449.60 acres along the Chipola River, approximately three miles north of Marianna. It is the only state park in Florida that provides guided tours through a dry cave system, featuring notable geological formations such as stalactites, stalagmites, columns, and flowstone. The park includes over 30 named caves within the karst landscape of the Marianna Lowlands. Its significance was recognized when part of it was designated a National Natural Landmark in 1977 and later named a State Geological Site in 2000. Visitors can participate in guided cave tours, hike, and picnic in designated areas. The park offers ample parking and is generally accessible, but checking weather conditions prior to your visit is advisable, as they can impact cave accessibility. It is important to bring water for hydration, especially in warmer months, and to be prepared for a remote setting. Before planning your trip, confirm hours, fees, and any potential closures with the official state site.
