About

Antelope Valley California Poppy Preserve is a state-protected reserve located in the Mojave Desert, known for its vibrant displays of California poppies, the state's official flower. Situated in the rural west side of Antelope Valley in northern Los Angeles County, the preserve features rolling hills that serve as a backdrop for wildflower blooms each spring. The elevation ranges from 2,600 to 3,000 feet, contributing to its unique desert ecosystem. In addition to poppies, visitors can find a variety of other wildflowers, such as owl's clover, lupine, and goldfields. The preserve offers a network of trails, including a paved section accessible for wheelchairs. Given its remote location, it is advisable to come prepared with water and snacks, as amenities may be limited. On-site parking is available, but it tends to fill up quickly during peak bloom season. Weather conditions can vary significantly, so checking forecasts before your visit is recommended. As access and rules may change, verify hours, fees, and closures on the official state site before your visit.
