Unit 21 · Piceance Basin North
About this unit
Northern Rio Blanco County in the upper Piceance Basin. Pinyon-juniper and oakbrush on broken bench country with aspen pockets on the higher north-slope folds; the basin holds one of the largest mule deer herds in North America. Predominantly BLM and White River National Forest with private and energy-development ground throughout.
