Two historical attractions have friends groups. The Melpine one-room schoolhouse is one of the historical attractions in the park. Benjamin Nye was one of the first settlers in the area. He built the first store and post office in the county. The National Register of Historic Places lists the mill as one of the finest examples of mid-19th century mills left in the country. The mill is being restored. The mill is grinding corn for the first time in 75 years, and it is a great place for a family to get away from it all. The non-modern campground has water and vault toilets. There is no electrical service to the campsites.
