About

The Landing is a beautiful, secluded, Hike-To, campsite located just an hour outside of Montpelier and Burlington in the quaint town of Rochester. From the parking lot, you will hike a short 1/4 mile, uphill, along a maintained trail until you reach the door of The Landing. The trail has a moderate incline, gaining roughly 150 ft elevation from the parking area. If you'd rather not carry your gear up, take advantage of the drop off service listed in "Extras". This unique site is tucked into the side of an old Log Landing, hence the name. The property is home to historical stone walls, trails that lead all the way to the top of the mountain, and a beautiful brook that runs just behind the tent down a private trail. The wooded terrain features over 300 acres of private unadulterated forest on the west facing side of the mountain. During the last hour or 2 of daylight, be sure to turn your chairs due West for a spectacular light show as the sun shines its rays through the leafy forest while setting beyond the horizon. We invite guests to enjoy bird watching, hiking, mountain biking, or just hanging out by the campfire while taking in the views and sounds of nature. Looking for more to do? Head back down the mountain, and explore the quaint town of Rochester. The main street is conveniently located about 1 mile up the road from your campsite. When the weather is nice, this is a beautiful walk into town. Rochester hosts several unique boutique businesses, including dining establishments, coffee shops, bookstores, antique shops, a cross-country bike shop, and more! The Rochester Cafe is our favorite spot for breakfast and Lunch! For an evening out check out Docs Tavern. If you are looking to venture past the town limits, we recommend exploring the White River for numerous summer and winter activities including mountain biking, kayaking, swimming, canoeing, tubing, skiing, and snowboarding! Nearby sites/attractions: walking distance to Farmers market in the town of Rochester Fridays 3-6pm. Vermont River Tubing is less than 15 min South by car. Both Sugarbush and Killington Ski Resorts are less than 30 min by car. Minutes from numerous hiking/biking trails through the Green Mountain national Forest. 15 Min to Moss Glenn Falls.
