About
The highest peak in West Virginia is 4,863 feet above sea level. You can see grassy openings and pastures from this peak. The vegetation has adapted to the harsh environment. The one-sided red spruce is hard to see because of the high rocky ridges. The plants hug the ground. Visitors can enjoy a panoramic view from the observation tower on the top of the Knob. The half-mile trail circles the knob and has panoramic views. Explanation of the high country vegetation, geology and animal life can be found along the trail. There are a number of facilities available at the tower.
