About
The sink hole was discovered by Joseph Nielson. He was returning to his camp when he got into the area. His horse stopped and didn't move. He got off the horse and started walking, but he had no shoes on. He was able to convince his horse to back up while he was holding the reins. He went back the next day to look at what had happened. He was near the sinkhole when his horse wouldn't move.
