About
Rocky Point Campground is located on the north shore of Eagle Lake outside of Susanville, CA. This is a small undeveloped campground on the east shore of Rocky Point. The site is best suited for self-contained camping. There is no potable water or trash removal available but a vault toilet is provided. There is no fee for the use of the campground but a donation is requested to assist with the routine maintenance costs. The surface in the campground is packed earth, gravel or sand. It is possible to launch small boats along the shoreline in the campground area. During low water, launching a boat is possible only from the shoreline areas where there is firm gravel, on the far end of Rocky Point. The Eagle Lake Marina includes a small store, restrooms, showers, and fish cleaning station. Gallatin Beach is a popular place to swim by the shore. Directions:
From Susanville travel north on Highway 139 for 30 miles. Turn west (left) on County Road A-1 and travel about 4.4 miles. Turn south (left) on Lakeside drive in the Bucks Bay subdivision. Travel south approximately .3 miles then turn right. Look for a sign to Rocky Point. Pass the bulletin board near the beginning of the access road and follow the unimproved dirt road south 1.25 miles along the shoreline until you reach a broad gravel flat which is the unimproved camping area where there are two vault toilets and a bulletin board.
