About
Bear Lake State Park is on the east side of Bear Lake. It includes the areas known as First Point, SouthEDEN, CISCO BEACH, andRAINBOW COVE. It is possible to get from Laketown to the north on the Cisco Road. First Point, Cisco Beach, and Rainbow Cove are all open year round. Bear Lake was formed by earthquakes. Bear Lake is 20 miles long and eight miles wide, and covers 112 square miles, and was discovered in 1819 by the North West Fur Company. The name was changed to Bear Lake. The Two Mountain Man rendezvous were held in the mid 1820's. The green-blue color is the result of calcium carbonates suspended in the lake.
